But it’s also found in the quieter moments. It’s in the hushed, fireside conversations at the intimate Firefly Boma, and most importantly, it’s in the timeless South African ritual of the braai. By placing our Braai Lapas at the heart of our green spaces, we are providing the stage for the simple, authentic gatherings that turn neighbours into lifelong friends.

Wild Olive Club

Embodying the timeless elegance and enduring spirit of its namesake, the Wild Olive Club is the sophisticated heart of active living at Helmsley. Just as the wild olive tree is a symbol of resilience and grace, this club offers a polished, modern sanctuary for wellness, sport, and community. Designed with clean lines and natural textures, the club is a masterpiece of contemporary architecture that blends seamlessly into the landscape. It is a place created for energy, movement, and rejuvenation.

Phase 2 onwards

Braai Lapas

At Helmsley, our thoughtfully designed Braai Lapas are the answer. Dotted throughout the estate's green spaces, these lapas are more than just facilities; they are the heart of our community, dedicated to the timeless South African tradition of the braai.

This is where the day's stories are shared over the crackle and glow of the fire. It’s the sizzle of wors on the grill, the scent of woodsmoke mingling with the sweet fragrance of nearby flowering trees, and the easy laughter of friends and family under a canopy of stars. Each lapa is a stage for connection—a place to unwind, celebrate milestones, or simply enjoy a perfect, relaxed evening.

Firefly Boma

As the sun dips below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of amber and gold, a special kind of magic awakens by the river's edge. This is The Firefly Boma, Helmsley’s most intimate and enchanting gathering spot—a secluded sanctuary designed for quiet connection and unforgettable evenings.


Here, the gentle murmur of the flowing river and the evening chorus of the bush provide the soundtrack. Gather around the mesmerizing glow of the central fire pit, its flames dancing against the deepening twilight. As darkness settles, the boma lives up to its name, with the flickering firelight. The Firefly Boma is the perfect setting for a pre-dinner sundowner, a quiet nightcap, or simply a moment of reflection. It’s a place to share stories in hushed tones, watch the stars emerge in the vast sky, and truly unwind.

The Baobab Club

Just as the majestic Baobab stands as the "tree of life" on the African plains—a colossal, ancient gathering place offering shade, sustenance, and a focal point for communities—The Baobab Club embodies this spirit at Helmsley. It is more than just a clubhouse; it is the vibrant, central pulse of our estate, a magnificent hub where memories are made and cherished.

Inspired by its namesake, The Baobab Club is designed as a grand, welcoming haven for families, friends, and neighbours. Its impressive architecture, with natural timbers and stone, rises gracefully from the landscape, mirroring the steadfast presence of the iconic tree.
