That promise recently took root in a very real way as a magnificent flatcrown was moved and replanted at the entrance to Helmsley.
Rooted in legacy
The flatcrown has long been celebrated across Africa. Its broad, umbrella-like canopy shelters gatherings and offers shade, becoming a meeting place for families, neighbours and communities.
At Helmsley it represents resilience: firmly anchored in history, yet always reaching towards the future. Moving the tree was not simply landscaping. It was the transplanting of a piece of heritage to create a living landmark that will welcome generations to come.
A delicate journey
The process required careful planning and skilled hands. The team patiently exposed the roots, keeping the tree healthy and balanced for its journey. The enormous root ball was bound and secured, a reminder that even when moved, the foundation travels with the tree.
Heavy machinery, trucks and cranes became part of the story, always guided by care and respect. The sight of the flatcrown suspended in the air captured a moment of transition between where it once stood and where it now belongs.
A new home at the entrance
Once positioned, the tree was surrounded by large stones, grounding it in a sense of strength and permanence. Water trucks gave it its first drink in its new home and the flatcrown settled into Helmsley soil.
